NEW MEASURING INSTRUMENTS FOR SOVIET PLANTS POWER INSTALLATIONS. AND SCHOOLS
DEVELOP MAGNETCSCOPE -- Moscow, Vestnik Mashinostroyeniya, Jul 52
Parts of antifriction bearings are constantly being magnetized during man-
ufacture, owing to their exposure to electromagnetic holders, magnetic defec-
toscopes, etc. Before being assembled, these parts are demagnetized and the
assembled bearings are tested for demagnetization.
A reliable and efficient magnetoscope has been developed for checking the
demagnetization of steel articles. This instrument consists of a transformer
and indicator with two iron tips connected to a magnetic circuit. The article
to be tested (roller, ring, assembled bearing, etc. ) is placed over the gap
between the two iron tips in such a manner that it closes the circuit flowing
through them and he magnetic lead of +.,n r-nsitive element. Magnetism in the
tested article is indicated by a difference in the gnantities of current' flowing
through the primary coil and the secondary (measuring) coil. -- Professor R.
I. Yanus and Enginier S. V. Shtengel'm.eyer
SHIP ELECTRICAL INSTRUMENTS TO KUYBYSHEV GES PROJECT -- Moscow, Vechernyaya
Moskva, 19 Jul 52
The Moscow First Electrical Repair Plant has shipped a consignment of
electrical instruments to the Kuybyshev GES project ahead of schedule.
APPARATUS FOR TESTING ELECTRIC METERS -- Kishinev, Sovetskaya Moldaviya,
14 Aug 52
The testing laboratory of the Kishinev department of Energosbyt (Admin-
istration of Electric Power Sales) has built a complex machine for testing
industrial electric meters. Prior to this, industrial enterprises of Kishinev
using power installations had to have their three-phase meters tested in Odessa
or in Chernovtsy.

INSTRUMERTS FOR SCHOOLS -- Moscow, Vecbernyaya Moskva, 1 Aug 52
The Moscow Fizelektropribor Plant, which equips schools with more than 60
types of manual and electrical instruments and devices, has developed improved
models of dynamos, voltmeters, and ammeters. However, the plant's production
bag been hampered by a shortage of winding wire, enamels, sheet iron, and in-
sulating material.
BUILD HIGH-PRECISION INSTRUMENTS -- Moscow, Moskovskiy Komsomolets, 12 Aug 52
The Five-Year P1-1 for the restoration and development of the USSR nag
tional economy for 1946-1950 called for automatization and mechanization in the
fields of ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy, machine building, chemistry, rub-
ber, food, and other industries. Electric power stations, power systems, and
railroad transportation, and the various branches of industry and municipal
services have been equipped with automatic devices.
T.uday, laboratories of scientific research institutes and higher educa-
tional institutions are equipped with the most efficient and complicated
electrical and radio engineering instruments, such as cathode oscillographs,
sound-recording devices, precision electrical measuring instruments, X-ray ap-
paratus, hundreds of types of radio tubes, electronic microscopes, and many
others.
USSR plants are producing instruments of every possible size mcrometers
and indicators, projectors and optical indicators, and high-precision instru-
ments with a measuring accuracy of one micron.
The Moscow Kalibr Plant builds precision-measuring instruments of dozens
of type designations, which are wisely used by the machine building industry.
AVrCMPS'IC SCALES -- Riga, Sovetskaya Latviya, 6 Aug 52
The Vinnitsa Scales Repair Plant is series-producing automatic scales with
a lord capacity of 200 kilograms.
