MODERNIZE RADIO SETS -- Tallin, Sovetskaya Eetoniya, 16 Aug 52
The Tallin Punane RET Radio Plant is building valve voltmeters, teeters,
and other measuring instruments. The plant has made several improvements in the
quality of its products, among which is a modernized Class 2 radio receiver.
PRODUCE LONG-PLAYIRG RECORDS -- Moscow, Moekovskaye Pravda, 24 Jul 52
The Aprelevka Phonograph Record Plant (Nero-Fominskiy Rayon), in colLsbo-
ration with the Scientific Research Institute of Sound Recording, has developed
a long-playing record which has sound grooves spaced more closely together than
standard records. The record comes in two sizes. The small size plays 12
minutes, the large size, 23 minutes.
The plant also has started the production of special record players which
are adapted for both the regular and the long-playing records.
DEVELOP ADAPTER FOR LONG-PLAYING RECORDS -- Staliaebad, Kommunist Tadzhikiatana,

The Vil't{yue Electric Meter Plant, in cocoeration with the Mosco?,+ Institute
of Sound Recording, has developed s universal adapter for playing regular and
long-playing records. The adapter is equipped with a permanent needle made from
co=undum sad gives an exceptionally clear tone.

DEMAND MODEdNIZED PHONOGRAPHS -- Moscow, Vecher~gyaya Moskva, 21 Jul 52
The Moscow Phonograph Plant, Local Industries Trust, Moskovskiy Rayon, ie
not fulfilling the plan or attempting to produce high-quality products.
Customers are demanding electrically driven phonographs vlth automatic re-
cord changers. Phonographs built by the plant are got equipped with a brush
for dusting records or with containers for t:e three types of needles (loud, me-
dium, and soft).
The plant should heed the needs of the consumer sad build excellent-quality
products.
TV REPAIR CHARGES EXCESSIVE -- Moscow, Vecherx~yaya Moskva, 8 Aug 52
A television owner in Fili, suburb of Moscov is Kievskiy Rayon, complains
that the price for checking his television set was 39 rubles (24.75 rubles for
home service call and 14.40 rubles for inspection). Ia addition to this, in-
stallation of the picture tube coats about 39 rubles and the tube itself coats
180 rubles.
It is reported that Moscow radio workshops are refusing to repair loud-
speakers owing to the shortage of materials sad repair parts.
