CZECHOSLOVAK PASSENGER TRANSPORTATION GAINS -- Berlin, Aussenhandels Nacluich-
ten, 20 Feb 52
A great increase in the number of passengers transported by all means of
transportation can be observed. The Czech railroads transported 264,800,000
persons in 1935, but this number had been increased to 540 million in 1951. In
1937, there were only 280 bus lines in operation. This number grew to 2,322
in 1951. The number of bus passengers increased from 18,800,000 in 1937 to
526 million in 1951.
Prague streetcars carried 282 million passengers in 1938, compared with
467 million in 1951. The combined municipal transportation facilities car-
ried a total of 530 million passengers. The rapid development of the economy
and the rise of the living standards are expressed in these figures.
