HIGH OFFICIALS ATTENDING AND AWARDS GIVEN AT BULGARIAN CELEBRATIONS
fomment: The following report lists the officials.who attended
recent Bulgarian celebrations and the recipients of awards given on'
the occasions.
It is interesting to note that Georgi Damyanov, president of the
Presidium of the Bulgarian People's Assembly, neither appeared in the
group photographs in Otechestven Front of 10 September 1952 nor was
mentioned by this newspaper as being present at the "9 September" cele-
bration. It also may be of interest that Minister of Interior Georgi
Tsankov is referred to as Lieutenant Gencral in the 14 September 1952
Otechestven Front article which describes the Eighth Anniversary of
the Ministry of Interior, and that he appeared in a military uniform
in the photographs in Otechestven Front of 10 and 14 September 1952.
(He did not appear in uniform in group photographs published in Sofia
newspapers on 10 September 1951.)

The following additional persons were mentioned as being present at the cele-
bration: Vice-Premier Karlo Lukanov. and heroes of socialist labor Todor Stoichkov,
Ferdo Stoimenov, and Aleksandur'Mitrr.v.(1) ftoichkov and Mitrev, although not

Major General Dikov, chief of the Sofia Garrison, ordered Colonel Petkov,
the commander of Sofia, to see that the various units reported for the 9 Septem-
ber parade. He put Colonel Tsonkov in charge of the artillery salutee.(2)

The following were present at another celebration of the Bulgarian-Soviet
Friendship. Month held in Sofia 26 September by the Bulgarian-Soviet Friendship
Society at the Ministry of PTT (Posts, Telegraphs, and Telephones): Toole Dragoy-
cheva, Minister of PTT;' Kosta Gane , Assistant Minister of PIT; General Peychev;
as well as Dimitrov Prize'Winners Vl. Kharizanov and Engineer Rashev.(3)
On 26 September Grudi Atanaeov, chairman of the Main Labor Reserves Adminis-
tration, which is attached to the Council of Ministers, made a speech on the new
school year at a conference of directors of industrial schools and labor reserves
schools in Sofia.(3)
