For example, in the roasting of pyrites it was possible to increase the charge from 120 to 160.kilograms per square meter of hearth area, which resulted in a 6-percent increase in output. This method was adopted by most of the other sulfuric acid plants. As a result, requests were made for changes in the plant production quotas. The last changes in the production plan were proposed on 26 May 1952 and provided for the production of an additional 7,100 square meters of colored glass and 87,000 square meters of ordinary glass. 5. Refractory Materials VEB Schamottewerk Colditz (Colditz Fire Clay Plant) As a result of the exchange of experience with other pants, the Colditz Plant was able to improve the Duvanov firing method. This contributed toward plan fulfillment in some cases and exceeding the plan in others. MAchine-Building Industry VEB Leipziger Eisen-und Stahlverke GUS (Leipzig Iron and Steel Plant, belonging to the Federation of People-Owned Enterprises for Cast and Forged Products) The slag-sand molding process and the filtered-ash molding process are used at the plant. At present, 164 workers are being trained in 44 activist schools to qualify for various technical operations, such as molding, speed drilling, and gear cutting. Precision Mechanics and Optics Industry VEB Askania, Teltow As a result of the plant's adoption of the Rossiyskiy method of inspection, 99 percent of the products were of first-grade quality. 5. It was possible for the plant to reduce the time required for producticn processes by 15 percent, on the average, through improvements in work organization and the use of progressive work methods.
