Petrozavodsk, Lsninskoye Zna~ya, 24 Sep 1952 The report on 23 September 1952 by A. N, Yegorov, Secretary, TSK KP(b) Karelo- Fianish SSR, before the Third Congress of KP(b) Karelo-Finnish SSR contained the following information: Ia 1951, timber haulage as compared with 1948 increased 48 percent in enter- prises of the Ministry of the Timbsr Industry Karelo-Finnish SSRy is comparison with 1948 paper production increased 96 percent, cellulose 125 parr-ant, r-ardboard 287 percent. The Timber Industry, the leading branch of the economy of the republic, is especially backward, During the first 8 months of 1952, it fv?filied the yearly plan by only. 55 percent. In recent years, the production of the cellulose-paper industry of the re- public has shown a significant increase. However, the plan for the production of cellulose, paper, and paper bags has not been fulfilled. The work of the Segezha, Kondopoga, and Khsrlu comb?nes has been especially unsatisfactory. The principal cause of unsatisfactory performan^e in the paper industry is the failure to provide foz the preve.nta+,ire maintenance of ms-binary. Equipment is wearing out from lack of repair which lea3e to frequent, accidents and stoppages. KARELO-FINRISH PRODUCTION RISES -_ petrozavodsk, Lsninskoye Zaim
