The Argesul Tannin Fact[;ry in Pitesti has been opened. Construction of
the new plant was begun in 1949 by Sovromconstructii No 3. Plans were drawn
up by Iprochim (Institutul de Proiectari Chimice, Institute of Chemical Plan-
ning), Ipromet (Institutul de Proiectari Metalurgice, Institute of Metallurgi-
cal Planning), and Iprem (Institutul de Proiectari de Masini, Institute of
Machine P1anring). The entire plant was planned and built in Rumania. Inro-
met perfected the first furnace-in-front-of boiler arrangement wh+^h burns
