BUILD PROTOTYPE FOR NEW MACHINES -- Budapest, Nepszava, 15 Jan 53
The UJitasokat Kivitelezo Vallalat (Enterprise for the Realization of In-
novations) builds prototypes of machines designed or invented in Hungary. Gyula
Varkonyi, ddrector of the enterprise, and Vidor Bokar, chief engineer, are per-
Yecting the models of four such machines at present.
The sex loom invented by Varkonyi and Bokar x111 be much smaller than pre-
vious ones. The shuttle travels in a rapid elliptical course from front to back
instead of from right to leYt. The cloth beam is located above the machine
rather than in front, and the beamer is placed below instead of behind it.
The loom xeaves on its reverse side too, so that it makes two pieces of
cloth simultaneously.
On his recent visit to the enterprise, the Soviet expert on light industry,
Altukhov ~n~, called the loom the most revolutionary invention in 150 years
in the xeaving industry.
The enterprise is also testing the deep drilling machine invented by En-
dre Gal and Karoly Gerber, both Kossuth-Prize-winnixig engineers. Preliminary
tests at Komlo and Esztergom indicated that the drill bores through even the
hardest atone layers, without bending or running untrue, eight to ten times more
quickly than an ordinary drill. Blueprints for the mass production of the drill
are now being made.
The enterprise is currently constructing the hydraulic coal cutter invented
by Varosi and Csapo ~fn~, engineers of the Ozd coal mines. The cutter is easy
to handle. The blades opernte by gouging into the coal face under extreme pres-
sure and cutting out large blocks of coal, thus greatly reducing pulverization.
When put in use, the machine will represent a saving of 400 million forints
~ver previous cutting methods].

Last week, the enterprise completed the third prototype for a crude oil
Puap. Oil pumps have been imported in the past. The Hungarian models use 60
percent leas fuel than the imported types.
MANUFACTURE NEW /SGRICULTURAL MACHINERP -- Budapest, Nepszava, 4 Jan 53
The new Hungarian DT-413 caterpillar tractor is manufactured by the Voros
Ceillag Traktorgyar {Red Star Tractor Plant) oa the basis of the blueprints of
the 6oviet ffi'-54 tractor. The nex machine is equipped with a diesel motor. It
consumes 30-35 percent less fuel than tractors not equipped with caterpillar
treads.
The skim colter plox tractor has a skim colter, or smaller gang ploy, be-
fore each regular gang ploy, The colter ie about two thirds the size of the
gang plow and cuts asrey top soil to a depth of about 10 centimeters. This top
soil falls into the furrow and ie covered with subsoil by the gang ploy.
The Mezogazdasegi Gepgyar (Agricultural Machine Pleat) in Szombathely ie
making fodder harvesters specially adapted to the cutting and ensiling of corn.
The machine picks up the cut cornstalks, twists them on a mechanism similar to
the rotary blades of a meat grinder, and conveys them into cutters. After be-
ing cut, they are blown into a trailer wagon.
Soviet-type milking machines and corn planters having seed gills accu-
rately spaced 60-70 centimeters apart are also being manufactured.
INVERT COGWHEEL ROT,T?TNl: MACHINE -- Budapest, Esti Budapest, 27 Dec 52
Aatal Cseparkalovics, division chief, and Janos Paxian, technician, both
of the Rakosi Matyas Muvek (Matyas Rakosi Works) have invented a cogwheel roll-
ing machine, which makes cogwheels ranging from 20 to 200 millimeters in diame-
ter to an accuracy of .06 millimeter.
A piece slated for the new machine is heated rapidly by high-frequency cur-
rent. A red light flashes when the required temFerature is attained, and an
automatic arm reaches out and places the piece on the rolling device.
The new machine takes 22 seconds to complete a fob which formerly took
20-25 minutes.
