WILL COMPLETE NEW UNTIS OF STALIN STEELWORKS -- Budapest, Nepszava, 1 Jan 53
The major units of the Sztalin Vasmu (Stalin Steelworks) are to be completed
1n 1953. These will include the first 704-cubic-meter blast furnsce, two epen-
hearth furnaces, and the steelworks ~i~, The shed of the steelworks is large
enough to coTrtain 25 six-story houses. The rolling mills will be laid out i.n
iyi3? There will be txo rolling mills, each large enough to accommodate two
buildings, each the size o? the Budapest parliament building,
The harbor, power plant, 1,200 new apartments, and the palace of culture
will also be finished by the end of the year,
The palace of culture ~ii11 have an o,uditerium with a stage and motion pic-
ture screen, a ballroom, library, reading room, and lounge.

The new chemical xorks x111 utilize the brown coal of Borsod Megye. The
new coal grader, xhich rill begin operating in 1953, will supply coal to the
power pleat and to the cokery,
The power plant x311 supply energy to the entire industrial regim of Borao3
Sid to the IIungarian plains,
The cokerywill represent ';he first attempt at converting Hungarian brown
coal itrto metallurgical coke.

The storehouse of the ICe.zincbarcilrai Kombinat (Kazincbarcika Combine) xas
completed on 10 January 1953?
The storehouse is 126 meters long, 28 meters high, and nearly 50 meters
aide. It was assembled from 707 prefabricated reinforced concrete units hav-
ing atotal weight of 31000 tone. A single pair of arches weighs 80 tons, and
each roof unit xeighs 2-g tone,
It took 3 months for a construction crew of 21 members to assemble the
building,
