HUNGARIANS ACCELERATE PETROLEUM OUTPUT
ACCELERATE OIL DRILLING IN ZAIA MEGYE -- Budapest, Nepszava, 17 Jan 53
Disproving the claim that greater acceleration would overtax drilling
equipment, L-14, L-24, and L-25 drilling units have drilled over 2,000 meters
each at accelerated tempo without mechanical breakdowns.
On receiving news of the achievement, other drilling unite followed their
example.
The R-11 unit increased motor power, doubled the load, used twice as much
rinsing fluid as formerly, and reported on the 6th day that it had reached a
depth of 805 meters.
Consequently, the "Faster Drilling for More Oil" movement is spreading
rapidly in the Zala Megye oil fields.
FORCE PETROLEUM PRODUCTION IN HUNGARY -- Vienna, Die Presse, 31 Jan 53
The Soviets pushed petroleum test drillings and production in the Lovaszi
region, near Nagykanizsa, during last year and erected numerous new pumping and
compressor stations in the fields. The reports of petroleum findings on Yugo,'
alav territory, near Nagykanizsa, to which the Hungarian cil deposits extend,
seem to have contributed to this haste.
Also during 1952, a modern carbon-black factory was erected near Nagykani-
zsa, which will produce mainly for export.
