RUMANIAN MPS PREPARE FOR SPRING
HUSI MTS REPAIRS EQUIPMENT -- Bucharest, Romania Libera, 13 Jan 53
The Husi MPS collective organized 11 teams to repair six tractors, one
thresher, 17 plows for tractors, and 28 harrows by the Stakhanovite method, in
preparation for spring work. Tractor operator Gheorghe Ghica, foreman Alecu
Liciu, and blacksmith Vasile Pamfil did outstanding work in this effort.
CARACAL MPS SAVES ON REPAIRS -- Bucharest, Romania Libera, 14 Jan 53
The Caracal NITS, Craiova Regiune, is showing good progress in its repair
work on agricultural machines. Workers were divided into 12 teams for greater
efficiency. The winter repair plan calls for the repair of 20 tractors, two
of which were finished by 14 January 1953. Furthermore, 3 threshers, 8 plows,
3 disk cutters, 3 cultivators, and 70 harrows have been repaired.
Workers of this collective are also very anxious to effect savings in re-
pairs, and consequently they reconditioned used parts for reuse, achieving
savings of 30 percent on spare parts. Savings of 40 percent were effected in
repairs of harrows and plows through the use of scrap iron. Lathe operator
Vladimir Marinov manufactured and applied small pistons for Bosch fuel pumps,
effecting savings of 1,400 let. Tractor operators Constantin Pastina, Ion
Turbuteanu, and Constantin Barzolovici worked with particular zeal on repairs.
Ilie Dumitrescu is training the younger workersandis a skilled thresher repair-
man.
Along with repair work, the Caracal.MTS has mass courses for brigade lead-
ers and tractor operators. These courses consist of 15 lessons, with a seminar
and practical work in handling KD 35 tractors, which are expected to be sup-
plied to thic station.

PASCANI MPS-SHOWS GOOD RESULTS IN REPAIRS -- Bucharest, Romania Libera,

The Pascani MI5, Iasi Regiune, achieved important results in its repair
work. The Bugachev method was used, and quotas for 1 February 1953 were ful-
filled 20 days ahead of time. A considerable number of tractors, sowers for
tractors, plows, harrows, and multiple disk cutters were repaired. The M1S
also repaired three threshers and 57 simple harrows more than planned:
Tractor foreman ion Damian did outstanding work. Team leader Gheorghe
'Chiriac applied the Kotlyar method to train three tractor operators. Con-
stantin Dascalu, secretary of the UTM (Uniuned Tineretului Muncitoresc, Union
of Working Youth) organization, Constantin Peiu, and Stakhanovite Petre Muraru
were outstanding in organizing work and for the good quality of their repairs.
VIATA NOUA COLLECTIVE ACTIVE IN SPRING CAMPAIGN -- Bucharest, Romania Libera,

The Viata Noua collective, Santana Commune, Arad Regiune, with a membership
of 600 families, organized winter work in preparation for the spring cam-
paign. The collective formed 11 brigades which were assigned various duties,
and nine brigades which were detailed io the fields; 40 collectivists worked
in the smithy and in the carpenter shop. Recently a repair shop for machines
and tools was set up. A shed for 1,000 sheep and two tool sheds were built.
At present a clubhouse is being constructed for the collective. Winter crops
were given special attention and care.
One brigade, headed by Dumitru Batea, is attending to the animals: Milk-
ing is done by modern methods, and mild production has increased from 6 liters
per day to 26 liters per day.
RUNEDOARA MIS CHECK MACHINERY -- Bucharest, Romania Libera, 18 Jan 53
MPS in Bunedoara Regiune are preparing for spring work. The Alba MIS is
at the head of the movement. Up to 5 January 1953, tractor operators and
technicians of this unit repaired and checked 50 percent of their quota of
tractors and threshers, and a large number of plows. This achievement is due
to the application of the Bugachev method.
1 MAI MI5 CARRIES ON WINTER REPAIR WORK -- Bucharest, Romania Libera, 9 Jan 53
The 1 Mai MI5, Braila Regiune, is carrying on a successful winter repair
drive: 17 threshers, 14 tractors, and other agricultural machines were re-
paired in the shops of this station. The station has 60 tractor operators.
NEGLIGENCE AT ANGRELESTI MTS -- Bucharest, Romania Libera, 23 Jan 53
Brigade chief Marin Gheorghe Dobrescu complained that Marin Marin, director
of the Anghelesti MTS, completely ignored requests of tractor operators and
technicians to bring in the 12 tractors and 11 threshers from the fields for
necessary repairs. In the meantime, rains and snow made the roads so impass-
able that the machines could not be brought in and repair work lagged shame-
fully. While operators and workers were struggling to complete their quotas
in the winter campaign, the director was solely interested in his private
affairs. The station was granted 15.000 lei to rebuild the repair shop.
Nothing was done and the money could not be accounted for.

Workers requested that Marin Morin and his subordinates be called to task and
punia ed.
RADOMIRESTI MTS FAILS TO FULFILL REPAIR QUOTAS -- Bucharest, Romania Libera,
15 Jan 53
Realizing its failures in the past, the Radomiresti MI5 switched to the
team method of repair. A work plan was drawn up for this purpose. Constantin
Berzon, assistant director of the station, stated that eight teams were set up
for tractor repairs. However, it would seem from results achieved up to 9 Jan-
uary 1953 that only 20 percent of the quota was attained. When questioned as
to the reason for this delay, the director of the station could not give an an-
sver. If he had personally supervised the plan, he would have detected the lack
of coordination in work, the inadequacy of present repair shop facilities, and
the poor distribution, of work in applying the team method. The director and his
associates are satisfied to sit in their offices and let things happen at will.
It is highly desirable that the Bucharest Regiune Directorate, under whose
jurisdiction Radomiresti falls, take measures to overcome this inertia and en-
force a proper distribution of duties.
