Exhibition of Rumanian Products
In its pavilion at the Leipzig Fair, the RPR (Rumanian People's Republic)
exhibited chemical and petroleum products, and products of the woodworking in-
dustry, as well as fruit, grain, leatner goods, textiles, and building materials.
Other exhibits included machines and tools, ball bearings, precision instruments,
and other goods which were not formerly produced is the RPR.
Among the new machines were the following: the KD-35 made b the Sovrom
Tractor Works, a 130-millimeter drill, a 175-kilowatt ~enerator~ unit, a 5,600-
kilowatt transformer, a lathe made by the Joeif Ranghet Plant in Arad, a 300-ton
crane, and oil field equipment.(1)
Foreign Trade
The volume of trade of the RYR has already surpassed the prewar figures.
Exchange of goods with the RPR is favorable to the purchaser. It is well known
that tcie quality will be as stated and that con`.racts will be faithfully executed.
There are no problems of foreign bills of exchange nor the buyer, since
goods can be paid for in goods needed by Rumania.(2)
Trade Agreement With East Germany ~
The representative of the Rumanian government, Deputy Prime Minister Chivu
Stoics, and the representative of the German Democratic Republic government, Dep-
uty Prime Minister Heinich Rau, met on 10 - 12 September 1952 in Berlin. Also
present at these meetings were Miron Constuntinescu and Brupd;Leusshner, Chairmen
of the State Planning Committee for Rumania and the German Democratic Republic
respectively. They examined the problems of economic cooperation between the RPR

and the German Democratic Republic and agreed upon the necessity of developing
economic cooperation between the tw parties, to aid in the building of social-
ism in both countries.
The conversations were carried on in the spirit of cooperation and mutual
agreement. The following protocol was drawn up:
1. The German Democratic Republic is to de~.iver to the RPR machinss, and
equipment Yor mining, metallurgical, and wodworking industries.
2. The RPR is to deliver to the German Democratic Republic raw materisl~
metallurgical and chemical products, wood products, and other goods.
3. A nixed German-Rumanian association will be established on an equal
basis for development of the Rumanian chemical industry using raw material
available in Rumania.
