Located in the remodeled bu ngs o e former cavalry barracks of Debrecen, the plant employe mainly local peasant youth. These young people are being trained by skilled workers and mechanics recruited from large engineering works. Janos Varhegyi, director of the factory, and eight engineers were sent to the USSR for 3 months to study ball-bearing production. During their stay at the Kaganovich Ball-Bearing Factory in Moscox, they met engineers from Ru- mania and Czechoslovakia who also had been sent to learn the technique of ball-bearing production. As a result of this study, chief engineer Piko (fnu) was able to write a three-volume monograph xhich will serve as a guide to domestic ball-bearing production. I^ December 1952, the factory began the production of conical roller bearings on an experimental basis. The factory has consistently exceeded its monthly plan. At present, the Komlo mines receive most of the ball bearings produced. STATE ARMY AIR STAT Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/09/14 :CIA-RDP80-00809A000700120334-6
