The Fourth Conference oY the Albanian Authors' League met on 14-15 September
1952 in the rooms of the National Library at Tirana. Among those present were:
Manush Myftiu, candidate member for the Politburo; Nexhmi~e Hoxha, member of the
Central Committee of the Albanian iJorkers Party; Fadil Pacrami; and the noted
author, Gedrgi Gulya, one of ttie Soviet delegates to the Albano-Soviet Friendship
Dionth.

Zise CiUnli, and cntmL: Giata. Pfi niter Shuteriqi was elected chairman with
Shevket '?lusara,l ^.rd Llazar Sil'.gi as vice-chairmen.

tors on the activities of the League during the 3 years since the last meeting.
IIe called :.ttention to the increased number of publications, the better choice
of preeen':-day topics, the ideological 1^rprovement in content, and the artistic
realism of the published works.

Zi'nni SaY.o, F^-tmir G,jate, and Dhimi*.er Shuteriqi. Among the poets, Musara,j
mentloned Llazar Siliqi, Dhimiter Shuteriqi, Aleks Caci, M. Gurakugi, Luan
Opfezezi, and Andrea Varfi. In drama, :Sole Jakova was cited as the writer of
a successful play, Halili edhe IIaJria.
lwiusariJ analyzed 'the defects of Albanian writers and advised authors to
pattern themselves on Soviet medals in the struggle for socialism and peace.
Kole Jakova spoke on the successes :.nd weaknesses of young writers. Speeches
followed by Fatmir G,jata, Jalcov Xoxa, Llazar Siliqi, Idehmet Myftiu, Zihni Sako,
Kin Dushi, Alel:s Caci, Lavdi,je Iiepravishta, G3ovalin Lukas I41sto Treska, and
othrxs. Salim Hasani recited some o.' his poetry. A speech by the Soviet author,
Georgi Gulys, was followed by general discussion in which the following took part:

Nexhmi~e Roxha spoke, among other topics, on the need for a militant litera-
ture, a party literature, a .Literature patterned upon Soviet experience, under
the leadership of Enver gMya,
The Albanian Authors' League Massed a resolution with a preamble noting
the successes nrd weaknesses of the League since the Third Conferenca.

League had not properly seen to the arecution of the resolutions of the Third

5. The Albanian Authors' League must seek to create great types of liters-
tore.' Hence more care must be given to the production of children's books
dramas poetry, eatiree~ c~~iticisme, =oci~s, scenarios, end librettos.
C. The League must cooperate witt, l:he Union of Albanian Working Youth in
raising the standards of education for young people.
7. The League must make closer contacts with mass organizations and educa-
tioasl institutions in the solution of pertinent problems. It moat take charge
of the patronage of letters, and of indiv13ua1 aid to authors, especially to
young authors.
S. The editorial department cf tLr~: League must organize collective work
and improve the quality of works ~ublis'r.ed by its organizations. It must aid
authors in perfecting their wur'rs for public.:*icr.. It mast stimulate literary
criticism.
9. Relations with the outside worir,, especially the USSR, Gaust be expanded.
