THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE OF NINE BULGARIAN NEWSPAPEP$ ff the 20-odd Bulgarian newspapers received in FDD, nine carry a statement (equivalent to a IS newspaper masthead) defining their internal organization in terms of their administrative and editorial departments. The following gives the organizational details of the newspapers as printed in the respective publications during 1953. Of particular interest is the organizational structure of Za Kooperativno Zemedel+ (an agricultural paper). It is unique in that?it has four departments that appear to be designed for polit- ical orientation, namely, the Propaganda Department, the Mass- Political rs artment, the Peuilleton Department (which only Rabot- nichesko Delo and Za Kooperativno Zemedelie have), and the Rumor and Satire Department. The unique fact of the e%isterce of four such departments in one paper may reflect the special importance to Bulgarian Communists of the political indoctrination of the peasantry. Other interesting features of Zia Kooperativno Zemedelie are that it has a Science Department (only Rabotnlchesko Delo has a similar department), a Legal Consultation Department as has Trud), and five departments devoted to special aspects of agri- culture] Rabotnichesko Delo, published in Sofia, the daily organ of the Central Committee of t.ie Bulgarian Communist Party, has the following departments: Party Life, Propaganda, Agriculture, Ecl,nomics, Letters from Readers, Soviet Union and People's Democracies, Foreign, Local Correspondents, Information, Literature and Art, Local Press, Science and Technology, Criticism and Biblio- graphy, Feuilleton, Illustration, and Finance and Supply.
