The Tirana newspapers have announced that the Politburo of the Central
Committee of the Albanian Workers Party has decided to open a night university
of Marx?iism and Leninism.
The university is to teachparty and government workers and promoters
of Albanian culture. The 2-year curriculum will conrrise the history of the
Soviet Communist Party, the history of the Albanian Workers Party, international
relations, dia'ec:ic and historical materialism, and political economy.
The newspapers call the opening of the Marxist-Leninist night university
a great step on the road of strengthening the Marxist-Leninist education of
cadres.
INCREASED TRAINING FOR WORKERS -- Moscow, Pravda, 21 Mar 53
There is a great demand for qualified workers in Albanian industry. To
a considerable extent, this demand is being satisfied by training workers in
qualification courses, in Stakhanovite schools, and in factory and plant schools,
and by means of instruction given young workers by Stakhanovites and technicians.
At the Stalin Textile Combine, for example, about 60 percent of the workers re-
'-eived technical schooling in the last 12 months, while in the Enver Hoxha Works'
and the Misto Mame Woodworking Plant about 30 percent took courses.
The preparation of workers for the mining industry covered a wide field.
In 1953, about 100 qualification courses were opened for miners. In 1953,
the number of miners trained was 2.3 times that in 1952, and the number of
workers trained in manufacturing industries was 1.4 times that in 1952.
In view of the great need for qualified workers in agriculture, the
Albanian Ministry of Agriculture plans to train three times as many agri-
cultural brigades, tractor men, and veterinary and animal breeding specialists
in 1953 as in 1952.
