Figures on allotments and their distribution were taken from Sluz-
beni list FNRJ (Official Gazette of Yugoslavia), 18 March 1953. Ex-
planatory information on future capacities, production, and equipment
were taken from Ekonomska politika (Economic Policy), 19 March 1953_7
investments for 1953.

The Federal Executive Council of Yugoslavia has issued the Decree on Supple-
mentary Investments for 1953, effective 18 March 1953, which provides for the fol-
lowing.
In addition to the 167,242,000,000 dinars allotted for investments by the so..
cial plan for 1953? Supplementary allotments from federal funds totaling
12, dinars are allotted as follows:
1. For supplementary investments in construction in Serbia, 3.2 billion dinars
are allotted as follows:
A billion dinars are to be utilized for beginning construction on the cop-
per mine in Majdanpek. The plan calls for this mine, in which a total of 13 billion
dinars is to b? invested, to be in operation by 1956. It will produce'annually 3.6
million tons of ore, containing an average of 0.8 percent copper, from which 24,000
tons of'copper, 2,000 kilograms of gold, ...id 30,400 kilograms of silver will be pro-
duced.
A cum of 500 million dinars is allotted for construction in 1953 on the
Kolubara Thermal Power Plant. The plan calls for the plant to be equipped with
four turbine units with a total capacity of 120 milliwatts; two turbine units are
to be in operation by the end of 1954.
A sum of 500 million dinars is allotted for beginning ?zork on the construc-
tion of a viscose industry in Loznica.

A total of 1.2 billion dinars is allotted for the repair and reconstruc-
tion of the Belgrade-Zronjanin, Belgrade-Valjevo, Belgrade-Nis, and Belgrade-
Pozarevac highways.
2. For supplementary investments in construction in Croatia, 2,822,150,000
dinars are allotted a, follows:
One billion dinars are to be utilized for the repair and modernization
of the Karlovac-Rijeka, Senj-Novi, and Split-Dubrovnik highways; 300,000 dinars
for the partial completion of the Lupoglav-Stalije railroad; and 22,150,000 di-
nars for the construction of a new streetcar dispatching station in Osijek. One
and a half billion dinars are to be utilized to cover the difference in prices
that the "Jugolinija" Maritime Transportation Enterprise in Rijeka has to pay
between world and domestic prices for the maintenance and repair of ships.
3. For supplementary investments in construction in Slovenia, 980 million
dinars are allotted as follows:
A sum of 500 millioa diners is to be u.ilized for the construction of
the Sostanj Thermal Power Plant; when completed, it is to be equipped with four
turbine units with a total capacity of 120 milliwatts. Construction is now under
way on the first stage of construction; two turbine units are to be in operation
by 1955.
A total of 180 million diners is to be utilized for expansion of the
"Franc Leskosek" Metal Construction Factory (Tvornica metalnih konstrukcija "Franc
Leskosek").
A total of 300 dinars is to be utilized for the construction of the
Vrhnicko-Postojna highway.
4. For supplementary investments in construction in Bosnia-Hercegovina,
2,569,000,000 dinars are allotted as follows:
A total of 500 million dinars is to be utilized for construction of the
Kakanj Thermal Power Plant. The plan calls for the completed plant to be equipped
with fo?!r turbine units with a total capacity of 120 milliwatts; two turbine units
are to be in operation by 1955.
A total of 2,019,000,000 dinars is allotted for the differences in prices
paid for equipment for the Zenica Ironworks, the Vares Mine, and the "Ilijas"
Smelter The plan called for this equipment to be imported, but a part of it is
to be manufactured domestically, hence the difference in prices.
A total of 500 million diners is allotted for studies and research for
the purpose of increasing cellulose production in Bosnia-Hercegovina.
A total of 300 Billion dinars is allotted for the renovation and construc-
tion of the Port of Solun in Zone B of Trieste.
5. A total of 2,659,500,000 dinars is allotted for various purposes as follows:
for mining and geological research, 1,314,500,000 dinars; for institutes for the
electrical economy, 45 million dinars; for transportation equipment, 900 million
dinars, and for licenses and patents, 400 million dinars.
