INDUSTRIAL EXPANSION IN HUNGARY, POLAND, AND RUMANIA CEMENT PLANTS BEING BUILT IN HUNGARY -- Paris, La Journee du Batiment, 11 Sep 53 It is estimated that Hungary's 1954 cement production will reach 2,100,000 tons, as compared to 342,000 tons in 1938. To meet the needs of the huge construction program, the cement plants of Laoatlan and Belapatfalva have been enlarged and re-equipped, while construction of the cement plant at Vac on the Danube, which will be the largest in Central Europe, is being rushed. A cement plant is also being built at Hejocsaba, in the center of the Miskoloc industrial region. The plant, to be finished this year, will pro- duce over 100 carloads of cement per day. A 6-kilometer-long cable-way has been built to carry limestone and marl from the Bukk Mountains to the plant. Granulation plants set up near the blast furnaces near Diosgyor will transform the slag from the foundries, previously considered useless waste, into raw material essential in the manufacture of certain cements. LARGE THEM-ELECTRIC POWER PLANTS TO OPERATE IN POLAND -- Warsaw, Folks-Sztyme, 12 Sep 53 The steam-electric power plant in Zeran suburb of Warsa], one of the largest power projects of the Six-Year-Plan, will begin its operations in 1954. This modern plant will be the first of a series of future enterprises to supply Warsaw with power, hot water for heating apartments, and steam for industrial requirements. Mostostal workers are in.the last stages of assembling the mobile structures of the main building of this power plant, which will house the boiler division, the machihe division, the electtofiltering division, and a number of other installations.'
