START PRODUCTION OF AfIARUS' TRACTOR -- Moscow, Pravda, 15 Oct 53
Series production of the Beluras' Tractor by the Minsk Tractor Plant
started at 1716 hours on 14 October 1953, when the first of the new tractors
rolled off the main conveyer of tractor assembly shop Nc ?. A meeting was
held at the plant to celebrate the start of series production of the Aelar?us'
tractor.

The Kharkov Tractor Assembly Plant is increasing the output of the 12-
1:orsepower XhTZ-j harden and orr.ha:d tractor, which has five speeds ranving
from 0.7 to 1~ kilometers per hcur? In 1y53, the plant has simplified and
strengthened the front axle. doubled the wesr resistance of the crankshaft and
r_onnecting rods, endtcnlly changed the design of the ste=ring mechanism, and
improved the water pump design. These improvements have increased the ~iaran-
tee period Lperiod before capital repairs are needed] ~f the tractor from 1.500
hours to 2,000 hours. The lnrarnntee period of the undercarriage has been in-
creased from 2,000 hours to 2,500 hours. In some MTS, KhTZ-7 tractors have op-
erated 7,000 to Q,000 hours withc~rt rupital repairs.
In 1952, the plant accumulated 10 million rubles above the Dian by reduc-
ing the production cost of the KhTZ 7 trnctos and produced 600 tractors c:bove the
plan. In the first 6 months of 1?5~, the plant has produced i00 tractors abc::
the plan. Plant director I. [dedvedev, chief engineer S. Serikov, and chief de-
signer K. Kntsevich were awarded Stalin Prizes for their pert in developinE the
KhTZ-7 tractor.

garden-and-orchard tractor; for agricultural purposes. The plant fulfilled
.its plan for the ri.rst 8 months of 1973 ahead of schedule and produced hundreds
of tractor: above plan, showed 64 percent more profit than it did in 1952, snd
saved more than 1,2 million rub'_es above the glen.
