The buildings of the "Karl Marks" State Soda plant in Reka Devnya, Stalin
Okoliya, are nearing completion. The Council of Ministers and the Central Com-
mittee of the Bulgarian Communist Party have decreed that the plant must begin
operations by the end of 1953? The responsibility for mee'.ing this deadline falls
on the specialists and foremen, scaffolders, masons and fitters whose work is not
progressing satisfactorily. .px?ovadiya Okoliya must secure 40 scaffolders, 90 reasons,
1 fitter, 50 cartwrights, and 150 other workers. The members of the Provadiya
Okoliya People's Soviet have tried to remedy the situation and the chief of the
planning section, D. Petrov, has gone through the okoliya several times to find
workers. Loral people's soviets have assisted him in procuring 2 scaffolders, 24
masons, 120 cartwrights, 1 fitter, and 47 other workers, or 1$4 of the 33G ~3~
workers needed. The majority of the xorkers at the plant come from the villages
of Karamanite, St Karadzha, Devnya, and Kaloyan. These workers have already con-
cluded and fulfilled their contracts, but more xorkers, especially foremen, must
be procured.
There are enough carpenters, masons, and other xorkers in the villages of
Provadiya Okoliya to supply this need but more explanatory work by party and youth
organizations must be done to obtain these workers.

The "Fabrichno Zavodski Stroezhi" (Factory ana Plant Constructions) of DSO
(Durzhavno Stroitelno Obedinenie, State Construction Association) seeks scaffolders,
masons, and plasterers to report for work immediately at the "Karl Marks" State
Soda Plant.

CABLEWAY INSTALLATION P.T "KARL MARKS" PLANT __ Ruse, Dunavaka Pravda, 13 Aug 53
The "Karl Marks" State Soda Plant has begun installing a cableway. A brigade
under the direction oP Dimitur Nedkov has begun assembling with an automatic crane,
seven bf the steel towers each weighing 1,780 kilograms.

According to an extract from Regulation (Razporezhdane) No 458 of the Council
of Ministers, uniform retail prices (in leva per kilogram) are established for
imported chemicals as follows: ammonium chloride, 20; ammonium bicarbonate, 16;
acetone, 40; powdered alum, 6; calcined soda, 4; crystallized sodium sulfite for
photographic purposes, 6; anhydrous sodium sulfite for photographic purposes, 20;
sodium benzoate, 50; glacial acetic acid, 80; tannin for viniculture, 45; shellac,
320; crystallized soda for the treatment of boards; 2.40; and crea;u of tartar, 40.
