ELECTRQdAGNETIC MACHINE FOR CLEANING GRASS SEEDS -- Moscow, Nushinno-Traktornaya
Stantsiya, Feb 53
Many MTS in the USSR are equipped with electromagnetic seed-cleaning
machines. The machine separates weed seeds from the seeds of clover and
alfalfa. Preliminary cleaning of leaves, stalks, and other waste from the
seeds must be done by the Triumf or the Kuskuta graders, the VS-2 winnower,
end the CE-1 seed cleaner.
Clover, alfalfa, or other seeds are poured into a receptacle, from which
the seeds are conveyed up to the hopper. From the hopper, the seeds are fed
in nn even flow to a mixing conveyer which is supplied with metallic powder by
special equipment. The metallic powder adheres to coarse and damaged seeds.
From the mixing conveyer, the seeds move into the electromagnetic drum which
retains seeds with the metallic powder attached to them and then routes them
through an outlet into a receiver. On leaving the magnetic field, the metallic
powder falls from the seeds into a receptacle. The undamaged, smooth clover
or alfalfa seeds ro13 off the magnetic drum into the receptacle for cleaned
seeds.
The electromagnetic cleaning machine cleans from 150 to 200 kilograms
of seeds per hour, depending on the waste pr:sent in the seeds to be cleaned.
One to two kilograms of metallic powder are used for each centner of seeds to
be cleaned. -- V. Roslyakov
G,t1IN CLEANER IMPROVED -- Moscow, Pravda, 18 Aug 53
The Voronezh Voronezhsel'mash Plant has improved the design of the VIM
grain cleaner and grader. The new sieve equipment makes it possible to grade
beans, oil seeds, and sugar-beet seeds, in addition to grain seeds. The
improved VIM cleaner and grader is smaller in size and 300 kilograms lighter
than the old model. The plant saves 122 kilograms of metal on each new VIM
cleaner and grader it produces.
IMPROVED AGRICULTURAL MACHINES -- Frunze, Sovetskaya Kirgiziya, 2 Sep 53
The Kharkov Serp i Melot Plant has designed special laborsaving devices
for threshers. These devices deliver sheaves of grain onto a chain conveyer
which carries the sheaves to the cutter, then to the threshing cylinder..
Each of the new devices frees.ten workers for other jobs. Specially designed
ball bearings and conveyer links have doubled the life of straw racks on
threshing machines. Durability of 34 other parts on threshing machines has
been increased.
