MANY STUDENTS AND CADRES STUDYING IN USSR -- Tientsin, Ta Kung Pao, 7 Nov 53
To increase the number of basic construction personnel, China has been
sending a large number of students to the USSR to study. At present, there
are over 1,000 Chinese students studying in the USSR according to a speech
given by Wu Yu-chaag, vice-chairman of the Sino-Soviet Friendship Association
on the 36th Anniversary of the October Revolution.
The First Ministry of Machine Industry sent cadres and wo"kers from
plants in the Northeast to the USSR to study industrial management and pro-
duction techniques. This group includes plant leaders, technicians, engin-
eering and technical personnel, administrative personnel, and shop manage-
ment personnel. They are divided into roller and ball bearings, motorized
equipment, machinery, and tools groups.
TEACHER TRAINING COURSES -- Peiping, K'uang-ming Jih-pao, 7 Jul 53
The following courses are being offered to middle school teachers
during the summer session of all higher schools: Chinese, Russian, history,
mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, physical education, arts,
and mechanical drawing. Courses are also being offered senior middle school
teachers in music and leisure time activities and junior middle school
teachers in music and art.
Summer session program of the teachers' college in Peiping offers train-
ing for school and pre-school grades, and Chinese, Russian, history, math-
ematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, and art courses.
STUDENT SUBSIDY -- Peiping, K!uang-ming Jih-pao, 7 Jul, 53
Since late 1952, each student in the regular curriculum of the teacher
training program for higher schools has received a monthly government subsidy
of 140,000 yuan. Each student in the special curriculum of the teacher train-
ing program for higher schools has received a government subsidy of 160,000
yuan and cadres assigned temporarily averaged 320,000 yuan monthly.
CADRES STUDY ELECTION LAW AND DIALECTICS -- Shanghai, Chieh-fang Jih-pao,
10 Jul 53
Over 50,000 cadres from Shanghai had completed studies on the election
law by mid-June. They are now said to know the deceptions practiced under the
old regime and to be able to recognize the true democratic spirit of people's
elections.

In accordance iiith directives of the Central Committee of the CCP, cadres
throughout China have organized classes to begin dialectics studies on a
regular basis this month. `Party, and government offices will supply study
halls, reference materials, and lecturers for these classes.
