THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION INDUSTRIAL EXPANSION AND NEW PRODUCTION IN THE SATELLITES GROWTH OF INDUSTRY IN RUMANIA -- Paris, La Machine Moderne, Aug 53 Rumania is rapidly becoming industrialized, judging by the products presented at the recent Bucharest exposition, where emphasis was placed on tractors and machine tools. A vast line of slide lathes, vertical lathes, planers, milling machines, and presses were shown. At present, there are more than seven large machine-tool plants in Rumania, and many others will be constructed between now and 1955. The principal production comprises medium and small machine tools, as well as special fast lathes. The total production will attain about 600 units in 1955. PLANS TO EXPAND M=G IN ALBANIA -- Duesseldorf, Chemische Industrie, No 10, Oct 53 Albania plans to step up production in natural resources. By 1955, 120,000 tons of chrome ore, 200,000 tons of copper, and 250,000 tons of bituminous coal are to be produced annually. The exploitation of iron and nickel ores, bauxite, and pyrites is also scheduled to start by that time. HUNGARIAN MANUFACTURE OF TUNNELING SHIELDS -- Paris, L'Equipement Mecanique, Oct 53 Hungary is manufacturing tunneling shields developed by Hungarian engineers. Excellent results were obtained at 14 excavation sites on the Budapest subway. The shields are also exported to Poland for construction of the Warsaw subway. In 1949) tunneling shields from Germany were used in constructing the Budapest subway, but were too heavy for the soil; later on, USSR shields were used successfully. AUTOMOBILES -- Stockholm, Ny Dag, 4 Dec 53 Warsaw (PAP) -- The Warsaw automobile factoryrobably the Zeron factory7 is working on a car model of the "Syrena" make. After,completing the model by the end of the year, prototype series will be produced in 1954. The inexpensive car, designed by Polish engineers, will accommodate four persons, including the driver, despite its smallness. The most economical speed will be 60 kilometers per hour, while the maximum speed 90 kilometers per hour. Gasoline consumption is rated at 0.8 liters per 10 kilometers. NEW BEARING METAL DEVEIAPED IN THE GDR -- Stockholm, Ny Dag, 4 Dec 53 A new type of bearing metal has been produced at the Bitterfeld Electro- chemical Combine.
