[The following territorial-administrative changes were re-
ported in the July 1953 Soviet press. They are listed here al-
phabetically by republic.
Numbers in parentheses refer to appended sources.]
ARMENIAN SSR
By ukase of the Presidium, Supreme Soviet Armenian SSR, the Settlement
imeni Beriya, center of [Beriyevskiy] Rayon, is renamed Settlement imeni
Shaumyan, and [Beriyevskiy) Rayon is renamed Shaumyanskiy Rayon.(l)
By decision of the Yerevan City Executive Committee, the main street lead-
ing from the "Ayrenik" Notion Picture Theater to the third section of the Plant
imeni Kirov is renamed Ulitsa imeni M. I. Kalinin.(2)
By ukase of the Presidium, Supreme Soviet Georgian SSR, the Rayon imeni
Beriya in Tbilisi is renamed Rayon imeni Mikhail Ivanovich Kalinin.
By decision of the Tbilisi City Executive Committee, Ploshchad' imeni
Beriya in Tbilisi is rel'med Ploshchad' imeni Vladimir Il'ich Lonin.(3)

The Presidium, Supreme Soviet USSR, by a 30 April 1953 ukase, has confirmed
the proposal of the Presidium, Supreme Soviet RSFSR, on the abolition of Kazan-
skaya, Chistopol'skaya, and Bugul'minskaya oblasts in the Tatarskaya ASSR.
The Presidium, Supreme Soviet RSFSR, has decreed the following territorial-
administrative changes:
Altayskiy Kray -- By an 11 April 1953 ukase, the center of Loktevskiy
Rayon is transferred from Lokot' village to Gornyak workers' settlement.
Amurskaya Oblast -- By a 6 April 1953 ukase, Nyukzhinskiy Rayon is abol-
ished and its territory transferred to Dzheltulakskiy Rayon, Amurskaya Oblast.

Bryanskaya Oblast -- By a 14 May 1953 ukase, the city of Bezhitsa is
designated the center of Bryanskiy Rayon.
Chelyabinskaya Oblast -- By a 1 June 1953 ukase, Ust'-Bagaryak village
is designated the center of Burinskiy Rayon.
Dagestanskaya ASSR -- By a 28 April 1953 ukase, the proposal. of the
Presidium, Supreme Soviet Dagestanskaya ASSR, on the abolition of Buynakskiy,
Derbentskiy, Izberbashskiy, and Makhachkalinskiy okrugs is confirmed.
Krasn.c arskiy Kray -- By a 7 May 1953 ukase, Shaumyan village (sel^niye)
is designated the center of Armyanskiy Rayon.
Molotovskaya Oblast -- By a 21 May 1953 ukase, the populated point of
Senino, Kuliginskiy Rayon, Udmurtskaya ASSR, is transferred to Sivinskiy Rayon,
Molotovskaya Oblast.
Mos..ovskaya Oblast -- By a 2 April 1953 ukase, Vol'no-Nadezhdinskoye
village is designated the center of Vladivostok,kiy Rayon.
Tyumenskaya Oblast -- By a 15 June 1953 ukase, Leninskiy, Stalinskiy
and Kirovskiy rayons of the city of Tyumen' are abolished.
Udmurtskaya ASSR -- By a 7 May 1953 ukase, Pokrovskiy village soviet,
Vyatsko-Polyanskiy Rayon, Kirovskaya Oblast, is transferred to Kiznerskiy Rayon,
Udmurtskaya ASSR.
Yakutskaya ASSR -- By a 4 June 1953 ukase, Chokurdakh village is des-
ignated the center of Allaykhovskiy Rayon.(4)
UZBEK SSR
By an 11 May 1953 ukase of the Presidium, Supreme Soviet Uzbek SSR, Khalka-
bad village (seleniye) is designated the center of Kuybyshevskiy Rayon, Kara-
Kalpakskaya ASSR.(4)
