THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION PETROLEUM INDUSTRY OF BASRKIR ASSR FIRST RALF 1953 PRODUCTION RECORD.-_ Moscow, Izvestiya,e1 May 53 On 29 April, the Bashneft' Association (S. I. Kuvykin, chief) fulfilled the 4-month plan and the April plan for production of petroleum. Moscow, Komsomol'skaya Pravda, 31 May 53 On 30 May, the Bashneft' Association fulfilled the 5-month plan for pro- duction of petroleum. During 1953, the production of liquid fuel has grown by 20.2 percent in comparison with the corresponding period of 1952. Moscow, Pravda, 31 May 53 Oil Field No 5 of the Tuymazaneft' Trust already has fulfilled its yearly obligations with respect to the production of above-plan fuel. During the first 5 month of 1953, the average daily production of petroleum at this field has in- creased by 36 percent. [Base of comparison not expressed.) Moscow, Izvestiya, 30 Jun 53 On 28 June, the Bashneft' Association fulfilled the half-year plan for pro- duction of petroleum. During the first half 1953, the association increased its production of petroleum by 21.5 percent in comparison with the first half 1952. During the first half 1953, the average daily level of production in the trust increased by more than 30 percent. [Base of comparison not expressed.] PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY -- Moscow, Trud, 16 Apr 53 Great savings in personnel in the Tuymazy oil fields have been effected through the installation of equipment making automatic the production opera- tions. For example, electrical winches have replaced manual winches. The process of pumping petroleum from the gauging tanks in the vicinity of the wells to the tank farm has been made automatic. Moreover, the compl cat.ed problem of automatic regulation of the gas and oil pressure in the traps [prob- ably gas and oil separators) has been solved. Operations at Oil Field No 2 of the Tuymazaneft' Trust have been made al- most fully automatic. As a result, each operator at this oil field services as many as 8, 10, or even 12 oil wells. i.e., the control of automatically operated dn oil l for the remote-, operation, a central point, of Oil Field No 4 of the Tuymazaneft' an operator located at out. This plan will be pugt into operation during neft' Trust has been worked 1953. Moscow, Pravda, 22 May 53 With the assistance of scientific institutions, ASSR have mastered advanced technology of exploiting petroleum deposits, in- eluding the production of petroleum by contour floodi oil workers of the Bashkir Institute, the Petroleum Institute of the Academy of Sciences USSR, and the Ufa Petroleum Scientific Research institute are rendering important assistance in perfecting a new technology or the refining of highly sulfurous petroleum. However, despite the degree of cooperation which exists between the oil producers and the scientific workers, there are shortcomings in the work of certain scientific institutions. Moscc:.?, Izvestiya, 7 Jul 53 Oktyabr'skiy, one of the youngest cities of the USSR, bus been given life by oil workers who produce liquid fuel from Devonian deposits. The two-story building of the administration of the Tuymazaneft' Trust stands along the cen- tral part of Ulitsa Devonskaya, Oktyabr'skiy's main street. Soon, all oil fields of the Tuymazaneft' Trust will be operated by the remote-control method. The director of the Tuymazaneft' Trust is P. Galonskiy. Oktyabr'skneftestroy [Oktyabr'skiy Trust for Construction of Petroleum Enterprises?) has been slow in completing construction objectives in the city of Oktyabr'skiy. 50X1-HUM Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/09/02 : CIA-RDP80-00809A000700170386-4 Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/09/02 : CIA-RDP80-00809A000700170386-4 Moscow, Komsomol'skaya Pravda, 12 Jul 53 arely he Tu most oo Jahavecks f emeptheloyefirstd at of omazy oil peration. Hoowever,e after several years of production this flow of petroleum is diminishing. Soviet scientists have discovered a means of restoring the flow. Along the contour or periphery of the petroleum deposit, wells are drilled, and thou- sands of cubic meters of water are pumped into the wells. This procedure forces the petroleum to the surface. The flooding of petroleum deposits, which was begun 5 years ago, has in- creased the production of petroleum in the Tuymazy region by several times. In addition, operational expenses have decreased and the cost of production of petroleum has been lowered by three fourths. DRILLING RECORD -- Kishinev, Sovetskaya Moldaviya, 29 Apr 53 Drillers c,' the Ishimbayneft' Trust fulfilled the 4-month plan ahead of schedule. Moscow, Komsomol'skaya Pravda, 31 May 53 The May drilling plan for the Bashneft' Association was fulfilled 2 days ahead of schedule. DRILLING TECHNOLOGY -- Moscow, Trud, 12 May 53 Working on a forced system, Allayarov's drilling brigade of Drilling Office No 2 of the Tuymazaburneft' [Tuymazy Petroleum Drilling?] Trust has set a record drilling speed for the region of the Second Baku. The brigade's speed of drilling was 1,837 meters per machine-month. Working on the regular, or unforced, system, Gafarov's drilling brigade of Drilling Office No 1 of the Tuymazaburneft' Trust has set a record drill- ing speed. Using only one pump, the brigade completed the drilling of a deep Devonian oil well in 30 days, instead of 67 days, the time required'by the plan. This performance exceeded the old record speed for drilling under an unforced system by 678 meters [per machine-month?]. The new record was achieved using a turbodrill and employing water in place of the usual mud solution. Moscow, Pravda, 22 May 53 The All-Union Scientific Research Petroleum Institute is rendering as- sistance to drillers of the Bashkir ASSR. A brigade of this institute, to- gether'with workers of the Ufa Petroleum Scientific Research Institute, used a new device, the turbotachometer, in conducting research of forced systems of turbodrilling. However, despite the cooperation which exists between scientific workers and oil producers, there are shortcomings on the part of certain scientific institutions. Last year, drilling innovators in the Bashkir ASSR introduced a new and highly effective technology for drilling oil wells using water in place of the usual mud solution. The advantages of the new technology were so obvious that it was widely adopted by drilling brigades in the Tatar ASSR and in the Kuybyshevskaya, Saratovskaya, and Molotovskaya oblasts. The Moscow Petroleum Institute and the petroleum Institute of the Academy of Sciences USSR should have organized research im. mediately in order to perfect the new technology. This effort would have the- determination of itive penetrati n ofunresolved water dinto b the production such as horizon. However, until recently, it would seem that the institutes had not been aware of the new drilling technology. Moscow, Izvestiya, 7 Jul 53 Using a forced system of drilling, Allayarov's drilling brigade [of Drill- ing Office No 2 of the Tuymazaburneft' Trust] completed the drilling of an oil well to a depth of 1,653 meters in 27 days; using the regular drilling system, Oafarov's drilling brigade [of Drilling Office No 1 of the Tuymazaburneft' Trust] completed the drilling of a well to a similar depth in 31 days. Both of these were record drilling speeds for the Bashkir ASSR, where drillers are confronted with rock, not sand and clay. At Baku, one bit can drill a kilo- meter, but in Bashkiriya, a bit lasts only 19 meters on an average. 4- + CONFIDENTIAL Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/09/02 : CIA-RDP80-00809A000700170386-4
