THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION USSR INCREASES OUTPUT OF RADIOS PHONOGRAPHS; LACKS SPARE PARTS RADIO INDUSTRY DEVELOPS NEW MODELS -- Moscow, Ogonek, 13 Dec 53 In the next few months, ARZ radio receivers will be available in various colored cabinets: dark cherry, dark ',lue, and grey with gold. In 1954-1955, the Iskra battery-operated set will be available to kolkhoz workers. This set is smaller than the Rodina radio and requires less electric power. The Baykal radio, which receives ultrashort-wave broadcasts, is scheduled for production. The fou;-;ube portable Dorozhnyy radio is now being tested. This set can be plugged into standard electrical outlets or operated on its batteries, which have a 30-hour capacity. In 1954, radio-phonographs with sound-recording devices will be available, as will sound-recording attachments for existing sets. The radio industry needs better veneer for cabinets from the Ministry of Timber eid Paper Industry, a larger selection of paints from the Ministry of Chemical Industry, and :a better quality and larger selection of fabrics from the Ministry of Consumer Goods Industry. -- S. In 1954, ministry plants are to increase their output of consumer goods by more than 60 percent and the output of radio receivers by 2.7 times. TO PRODUCE MOSKVICH-4 RADIO -- Moscow, Moskovskaya Pravda, 4 Nov 53 In the past, the ba,cow Krasnyy Oktyabr' Plant has received many complaints about the Moskvich receivers it prodr.ces. Now the plant has developed the Moskvich-4 radio, which will replace the Moskvich-3 radio the plant now produces. The plant will turn out the first group of these radios in December and will mass-produce them at the beginning of 1924. Without taking on additional work- ers, the plant's assembly sho is now turning out three times as many radio re- ceivers as it formerly did. This announcement of production of the Moskvich-4 -?eceiver deems to contradict the following reportsa MOSKVICH-3 RADIO -- Moscow, Vechernyaya Moskva, 10 Nov 53 The Moscow Krasnyy Oktyabz' Plant is preparing to mass-produce the Moskvich-3 radio. This Class 3 set has five tubes, receives programs on two wave bands, and will replace the Class 4 Moskvich receiver formerly produced. The Orekhovo-Zuyevo Karbolit Plant has prepared the first group of cabirets for Moskvich-3 radios. Moscow, Ogonek, 29 Nov 53 The new Moskvich-3 receiver produced by the Moscow Krashyy Oktyabr' Plant will .3oon be on sale. The set was developed last summer by chief engineer S. Vasil'yev and engineer M. Ganzburg. The set received a good rating from. the Leningrad Institute of Radio Reception and Acoustics. The long-wave band of the set extends from 800 to 2,000 meters, while the medium-wave band extends from 200 to 500 L.:ters. The set's negative regener- ative circuit assures accurate tone reproduction. PRODUCE ABOVE-PLAN RADIOS -- Kiev, Pravda Ukrainy, 10 Oct 53 The Riga Radio Plant imeni A. S. Popov has fulfilled its plan for the first 9 months of 1953 ahead 3f schedule and turned out more than 4,000 above-plan Riga-10 and Riga-6 radio receivers. In the first 9 months of 1953, the plant produced 1 1/2 times as many radio receivers as it did in the corresponding period of 1952 and reduced production cost of receivers 14 percent. INCREASE OUTPUT OF UROZHAY RADIOS -- Kiev, Pravda Ukrainy, 14 Oct 53 In the first 9 months of 1953, the Dnepropetrovsk Radio Plant produced as many Urozhay mobile radio stations as it did in all of 1952 and saved more than 1 1/2 million rubles by reducing production costs. The plant has also organized the output of Dnepr dynamic loud-speakers for rural areas. FAIL TO DELIVER BAN., SWITCHES -- Moscow, Radio, Dec 53 Tsentrosoyuz (Central Union of Consumers Cooperatives) ordered 12,000 band switches from Glavelektrosbyt, Ministry of Electric Power Stations and Electri- cal Industry, but has ytb to receive a single switch. An order for 100,000 de- tectors has remained unfilled for 2 years.
