The SSh-6A improved checkrcw vegetable planter has undergone extensive
tests in kolkhozes of Moskovskiy Rayon. The machine plants corn or sunflower
seeds on 16-18 hectares in one day. The machine car) also be used for planting
tomatoes, pumpkins, and cucumbers-

The Kirovograd Krasnayu Zvezda Agricultural Machine Building Plant has
made the first test on the SKGT-6 checkrow vegetable planter. The new planter
requires one worker to operate it. It plants corn, sunflower, or other vegetable
seeds on 18-20 hectares in a day.

The Rostov-on-Don Krasnyy Aksay Plant produces SR14-6 seedling planters.

Tadzhik SSR) has received a shipment of SK;-4 po*sto planters. Deliveries of new
agricultural machines to Tadzhikglavsel'khozsnab are constantly being increased.

DESIGN NEW MACRINE FOR LIMING SOIL -- Train, ScvetsScaya Estoniaa, 22 Oct 73
Estonian SSR shale ash is very valuable for liming acid scils. Shale ash
cannot be distributed by ordinary fertilizer spreaders because of many hard
lumps. The personnel of the Mechanization Branch of the Institute of Plant
Growing, Academy of Sciences Estonian SSR, have developed a new spreader for
shale ash. This fertilizer spreader is equipped with automatic devices to pre-
vent breakage by hard lumps.
The new machine has been designed for use with the U-2 tractor and can spread
3 tons of shale ash on one hectare of land in one hour.
COMPLETE TESTS OF FERTILIZER SPREADERS -- Petrozavodsk, Laninskoye Znamya,

Tests have been completed on two fertilizer spreaders, the NT 2.O manure
spreader and the TUR-7 universal fertilizer spreader. Both machines will noon be
series produced. It is expected that by the end of 1955, 15,000 of these machines
will be supplied to kolkhozes and sovkhozes of the USSR.
