(Summary: The following items present information on the cost of
industrial production and the prices of agricultural products in China
in 1953? Salts-promotion teams and general merchandise stores have
violated price policies by seilir,g products c?he?per in rural than in
urban areas. Industrial production tests can be reduced by usinC ma-
terials, machinery, and labor more officiently. Adjustment of prices
for grain and industrial products has pi-rer: the farmer a ~n?ester in-

165,000 yuan per dozen. These pens should have sold for 166,200 yuan per dozen
in Lin-yips Hsien. As 1t ~+as, the selling price was 100,000 yuan less than
that necessary for compliance with our urban-rural price po~icy.
In mid-October 1J5s; the Chia Esien (Ronan Province] General Merchandise
Store also violated the urban-rural. price differential nror~ram by altering the
prices of 10g items. Some of the items were priced lower than in the lisu-ch'-
ang Sp_cial Administrative Area and did not cover the i'rei;;ht charges from
