DESIGN CHANGE SAVES METAL IN CONSTRUCTION OF NEW MIXER __ Leningradskaya Pravda,

Mnchine: shop No 1 of the Novo-Kramatorsk Plant imeni Stalin has completed
the assembly of a mixer having a capacity of 1,300 tons of molten iron. The
mixer is of new design, with a cylindrical rather than barrel-like container.
This change has enabled designers to reduce its weigi,t by 15 tons, thereby
saving a considerable amount of mewl.

The Novo-Kramatorsk Plant imeni Stalin is increasing it:, production of
consumer goods and enlarging its consumer goods shop. Recently, the plant
manufactured over 7,000 beds, many wash basins and pails, and much enameled
and aluminum kitchenware.
In 1954, the plant will turn out 25,000 beds, some completely nickel-
plated, others partially nickel-plated. It will also produce 300 tons of
iron kitchenware, 200 tons of enameled iron, kitchenware and 150 tons of
aluminum kitchenware.

The Staro-Kramatorsk Plant imeni Ordzhonikidze has =omnleted the assembly
of a new large-cape-lty seven-roller plate-straightening machine. The plant has
also ,just assembled some new flying shears.

NEW BLOOMING MILL Ii AUTOMATIC -- Koscow, Trud, 13 May 53
The Sverdlovsk Uralmaeh Flant has ,just completed a heavy automatic bloom-
ing mill, featuring mechanization of all blooming processes. Three hundred '
meters long, the housing for its stand alone weighs 9O tons. The mill will be
able to handle blooms up to twice the size of those turned outs on similar mills.

The Alma-Ata Machine Building Plan has ,just sent a VMA-6 xire-drawing mill
to a cable plant. It will be used for drawing aluminum wire.
NEW ITaMS RANGE FROM TURNTABLES TO HOTPLATES __ Tallin, Sovetskaya Estoniya,

The Tartu Tekhnik Plant has surpassed its 8-month plan, while at the same
time effecting savings in raw material and fuel. Recently, the ylant established
production of a number of new items.
The plant will have completed its first Qroup of turntables for narrow-gage
cars by 1 1lovember. Many castings have already been turned out for these turn=
tables, which are of new design.
An economizer has ,just been completed, iron doors for boilers have ,just
been put into production, and, in the consumer gods field, preparations have
been completed for the production of hot plates.
RENDER AID TO MTS WORKERS -- Baku, Bakinskiy Rabochiy, 3 Nov 53
The Baku Plant imeni Shmidt, acting in accordance with a decision of the
Plenum of the Central Committee CPSU, has assumed the responsibility of guiding
and aiding the Ali-Bayramlinskaya t~S.
The plant boiler shop has begL: work on an overhead traveling crane for the
MPS machine shop. Plant electricians will soon arrive at the MPS to inspect and
overhaul ita power plant. A brigade of plant construction workers will help with
various building problems. The brigade attached to the plant garage will repair
two MTS trucks and build a stand for running-in tractor motors.
