PLAN TO STEP UP PROPAGANDA AGAINST RELIGION
Hong Kong, 24 March -- The Mongolian People's Republic intends to step up
propaganda activities for the purpose of stBa
according to.a 23 March broadcast from Ulan Bator, cat religion in Mongolia,
The broadcast said +,se following:
"Although we, the people of Mongolia, have always worked to improve our
national economy under the leadership of the Revolutionary Party as we march
alone tc:iard Socialism, we have been lax in our propaganda activities aimed at
stamping out religion.
"Although Lenin on the subject of socialism and religion wrote that reli-
gion is the opiate of the people, our party has rejected antireligious propa-
ganda activities. This is so even though our party follows Leninist-Marxist
doctrine and even while it has marched along the road to Socialism by improv-
ing t.,e national economy and by making progress culturally.
"We will have to expand our propaganda greatly in order to stamp out re-
ligion, beaming our propaganda at the backward fanatical religious leaders and
their followers."
