THE PLAN OF ACTMTY OF THE PERIODICAL
'Kiilt~ffCHESKAYA PRO SHLENPiOST'
[The following plan of activity of Khimicheskaya pro shlennoat'
was published in the March 1954 issue. After an interruption of 7
years, the periodical is again being received 1n the US. The first
issue received was No 1, dated January-February 1954. Hoxever, it
was published in March 1954. Issue No 2, dated March 1954 was pub-
lished in March. The ser.ond issue hes an officially announced cir-
culation of 3,500 copies.]
The Board [Kollegiya] of the Ministry of Chemical Industry heard the re-
port on the wort: of the journal Khimicheskays Promyshlennost' from Prof p. I.
Gorbanev, editor-in-chief of the journal.
The board. of the ministry indicated the tasks of the journal's editorial
board. These tasks are as follows:

1. The journal must widely mobilize the workers of the industry for the
following purposes: successful solution of the prorleas set to the chemical
industry by the CPSU and the government, the detection of unused production '
reserves and introduction into practice of the results of advanced experience,
the econos{y of crude material, the improvement of the efficiency of labor, the
reduction oi' the prime cost, the automatization and :~echanization of produc-
tion, the successful execution of assignments pertaining to constructions, the
development of the production of goods destined for popular consumption, etc.
2. The editorial board in its work must act in close collaboration with
industrial enter, rises, institutes, planning organizations, engineering-
technical personnel,and workers uho are production ploneErs, making sure that ex-
tensive dissemination be given through the medium of the journal to informa-
tion dealing with their diverse experience and achievements.

3? The journal must organize rriticiam of shortcomings in the work of in-
dustrial ettterprisea, institutes, planning organizations, and main adminiatra-
tioas and also of the general direction c?. technical development in indivi2ual
branches of the industry. '
4. It is necessary to maintain publication in the Current Events [HIiron=
ikaJ Section of the journal of information en decisions made by the board of
the minist~t~ orders and directive letters issued by the ministry, decisions
made by production-technical conferences and meetings, newly released chemicals
and products together with data on their properties, development of new equip-
ment, apparatus, and appliances which may find extensive application in the
chemical industry; etc.
5? The editorial board should organize extensive discussion of material
published for that purpose. In order to conduct discussions of the work of
the 3ourual, it is necessary to hold at least annual conferences of the read-
ers of the ,journal in Moscow and in large centers of the chemical industry.
It has been decided to hold the next rAaders~ conference is Moscow during
April 1954.
6. The chiefs and chief engineers of main administrations, in accordance
xith the order No 37 of 16 January 1954, issued by S. M. Tikhomirov, lfinister
of Chemical Industry, must extend the utmost aid to the editorial board of
Khimicheakaya Pro shlennost~in the selection of contributors of articles that
are to be published and ~in the arrangement for publication of the necessary
data on the work of subordinate enterprises and scientific research institutes.
