fomment: In its column headed "For the Reader's Guidance,"
under the title "Explanation of the Word 'Zionisid", the Nanking
Hein hua Jih-pao of 1 December 1952 discussed the meaning of
Zionism. a explanation characterizes the movement as a tool
of the reactionaries and advises the Jewish people in each
country to join up with the "people's struggle against feuda.J,
capitalise, and fascist slavery."
This is the first mention of Zionism in the Chinese Com-
munist press available in FDD.
The article follows]
Jewish people in the capitalist, semicolonial, and colonial countries
have been continually oppressed by reactionary governments. The best and the
only way for the Jewish people to liberate themselves is to join the people's
struggle in each country against feudal, capitalist, and fascist slavery, for
freedom and democracy, and fcr the soluti?a of racial problems under the prin-
ciple of racial equality.
However, a group of .Tt-wi.sh capitalists is pushing the Zionist movement in
each country and appealing to Jews to return to Palestine to establish .
their own nation. Most of the Jewish people have not been influenc',d nor have
they shown enthusiasm toward this movement; in fact, some have alreu,.y joined
up with the people's struggle against reactionary feudal, capitalist,. and fas-
cist elements in each country.
Zionism-is very much welcomed by the reactionary Imperialists who are
actively agitating and supporting the movement. Moreover, the Zionist group
is a counterrevolutionary organization in the service of the imperialists.
