THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION SHANGHAI AREA STATE-OPERATED FACTORIES ANNOUNCE 1953 PRODUCTION PLANS Shanghai, 31 December (Hain-hua) -- More than 200 state-operated factorier, in Shanghai and vicinity have basically completed or exceeded their 1952 produc- tion quotas and have formulated their production plans for 1953, the first year of the First Five-Year Plan. After exceeding the 1952 production quota by 9.15 percent, the state-oper- ated Shanghai Electrical Machinery Plant has decided on the following 1953 pro- duction plan: (1) increase production by 46 percent over the 1952 figures; (2) manufacture more than 80 different kinds of electrical machinery; and (3) train 294 angineers, technicians, and technical cadres for section-chief positions or above as a contri'ution toward the first year of the Five-Year Plan. During 1952, the state-operated Shanghai Industrial Equipment Plant has in- creased its machinery production capacity by three to ten times. During 1953, the plant plans to increase its over-all production by 5.5 times over 1952 pro- duction. The 50-odd textile mills and printed dyestuff plants of the East China Textile r^-~r=1 ~'~?:.~ uove surpasses the 195d production quota by 4 percent and have de- cided on the following production increase plan for 1953: (.1) increase. production by 14.83 percent over the 1952 record; (2) increase cloth production by 12.4 per- cent over the 1952 production; (3) increase printed dyestuff production by 13.41 percent above the 1952 production; and (4) increase profits by 28 percent beyond those of 1952.
