THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
The Czechoslovak Ministry of Internal Trade has announced the October ra-
tion scale for food items and soap
Food.and soap rations are issued only on Individual coupons, in the quanti-
ties indicated on the coupon.
Coupons preprinted "lard" or "bacon" are valid for unrendered lard. They
may be used, however, for rendered lard or smoked bacon. The butter coupon,
valid for rendered lard, will be acceptable for the latter item only.
Rice will be issued on "substitute" coupons in stipulated quantities.
Children up to 6 years of age may obtain bread on all "flour" coupons from
the it/a ticket, at the rate of one kilogram of brorad for 750 grams of flour.
Coarse wheat flour will be issued on "coarse flour" coupons; wheat grits may
also be purchased on these coupons.
Fine wheat flour is available on all flour coupons, as are baked goods, mac-
aroni products, and bread crumbs.
Butter may be purchased only on "butter" coupons when the consumer registers
for it, prior to 27 September, The same applies to milk.
Child-en's foods are issued as follows.
1. Children up to 2 years; food Package No I 'three boxes PN.V Zn-ot iden-
tifie] milk food) or No II ;100 grams of biscuit), issued on a special coupon
titled "Children's food No or No T-I,'I and marked with a black square. In
purchasing Food Package No I, coupons for 500 grams of flour must be surrendered
in addition; for No II, coupons for 50 crams of flour.

2. Children 2-6 years: Food Package No III (500 grams of cookies or zwie-
back), for special couponb marked "Children's Ford No III"; 250 grams of flour
coupons must be surrendered at the same time.
All coupons are valid from 29 September through 31 October, except a few
bread coupons, which are specially marked for limited periods only. In in-
dustrial catering, in brigade kitchens, in convalescent homes, and in catering
for children, youth, and schools, bread coupons may be surrendered regardless of
their limited validity.
Special provisions are made for persons who are billeted communally. They
are issued individual ration cards, but the management of their institution may
present the coupons in bulk to the various suppliers.
