PENSIONS OF SCIENTISTS IN HUNGARY
The Council of Ministers adJusta the pensions of scientific workers and
their families in Decree No 1.014/1954 (11/6) ae follows:
Scientific workers with scientific degrees who have retired because of
ill health or old age will receive from the Hungarian Academy of SclEnces the
following monthly sums, in addition to the passions allotted them by Decree of
Legal Force No 30 of 1951: regular member of the academy, 2,645 forinte; cor-
responding member of the Academy, 2070 forinte; doctor of science, 920 forints;
and candidate of science, 472 forinte.
Ia the event of the death of the above-listed scientists, their widows
x111 receive from the academy half the sum due their hunbande, in addition to
the regular pension.
The foregoing regulations do not apply to doctors of science and candidates
of science who held their degrees previously [probably degrees issued under the
$orthy regime) or who are being paid by the academy because of previous ecien-
tlfic degrees. Such persona and their families are provided for by Resolution
398/1949 (x.22) of the Council of Ministers.
The care of orphans and the pension of incapacitated parents will be estab-
lished on the basis of the present decree.
The Minister of Finance has the authority to adJuet the pensions of scien-
tific workers and their families in accordance with the provisions of this de-
cree.
