There is a Soviet unit of 250 to 300 men with four mortars in the General Magheru barracks (formerly Dimitri Cantemir). They wear shoulder boards with gray piping. The men of this unit are called "Miotka" by other Soviet troops. 7. The bridges in and around Lipova are guarded by soldiers from a Soviet unit of about 400 men stationed at 12 Mures Street (former cloister of Notre Dame). This unit does only guard duty. Their shoulder boards have ale blue i in_ and the belt 'buckles are round and bear the Soviet star. 8. Their shoulder boards were the color of the uniform, with dark blue piping and insignia of a double thunderbolt. A Soviet warship arrived in the port of Constanta on 25 November 19520 The ship's name was covered up, so that its identity could not be established. Rumanian experts reported that it was a light cruiser of the LENINGRAD type with nine 150mm guns in three 3-gun turrets. 13. Troop movements continue in the Craiova area. The maneuvers ended officially an 17 November 7.952. The problem of the maneuvers was as follows: "A strong Tito-Facist force, probably of division strength, makes an attack with the object-of seizing the Rumanian oilfields at Ploesti in a surprise raid. Strong eriumW units succeed in crossing the Danube and establishing a strong bridgehead near Calafat. The task of the troops is to hold the enemy in check until reinforcements arrive from the north, and then to annihilate the enemy in cooperation with the reinforcements." Maneuver headquarters were at Filiasi. It was reported in Cralova that the Rumanian troops engaged in the maneuvers got into such confusion that they had to be withdrawn. There is a Soviet mnunition depot in the former mill of the Roman Brothers, 300 meters northeast of the town of Parta. The building is 25 x 15 meters in sizes and there are three other buildings belonging to it. The whole group is enclosed by a strong barbed wire entanglement and there are watch towers at the four corners where guards are posted. The guards wear shoulder s with i in 15. A Soviet armored unit is quartered in Czekonics Castle at the eastern exit of the village of Satul Nou. This castle was the Ana Packer Children's Rest Home from 1947 until 1952.
