1. On 24 Novexiber 1952, at a meeting of the Party Group of the Prime Minister a a
Office. Groteewohl corm= ted on the 5lanekk trial in Prague, stating that
Germany would soon witness a "Slansk$ trial" of Aclenauer. In answer to a
loud interruption that Adenauer and his men vould flee in time, he made
disparaging remarks and stated that Adenauer' a attt tulle was beet demonstrated
by the fact that he even failed to react when East Germany publicly called
upon the people of West Germany to overthrow him and his goverment. He
added that journalists who had published articles to this effect were still
allowed to move freely in the Federal Republic.)
2. In one of the last meetings of the party group, which have taken place
w, ith greater regularity and frequency since Grotew hi' a return from roacow,
Grotet-ohl again emphasized that ranking government employees and employees
holding cor.dfidential posts were not to enter the West Sectors of Berlin.
He warned that violations of this order would be pindshed severely.
o t. Grotewohi'a words on the attitude of the Federal Government 25X1
seem to sirring from disappointment that Bonn fails to react to certain
provocations from the East German regime; the statements are characteristic
of those made at party meetings.
