1. During World War II0 a new portion,, greater in extent than the original works,
was added to the Urtted Steel Works, Poldina But Plant,, at Kiadno. Since 19+5,
the buildings have been completed and modern equipment has been installed in
the new plant,
The following items are produced at this plant;
as From 120 to 180 steel rode, brand AICC , diameter 20, are produced every
24 hours; These rods ara. destined. for the Rumanian petroleum industry.
b, =?:rom 120 to 200 tons of round steel tools, brand AKV, diameter 100 a 50t of
various le the, These are destined for the USSR,
of Crankshafts of various sizes for internal combustion engines. About 36
small or 34.large crankshafts 150 cm, long are produced every 24 hours.
Owing to the poor quality of the steel, about 26% of each 40 crankshafts
-turfied out are; faulty,
d, Special steel ingots of various sizes for the t ev plant are produced
in Siemenstin furnaces at the rate of about 60 tons in 21+ hogs,
?, Spacial. hard cutting steel for milling heads,, brand Diedur, at the rate
of about 3,000,kilogvams per 2 hours,, This item is produced to. order,
f. Spiral springs for railway mars. and cantilever springs for motor vehicles,
produced-et the rate of about 80 tons in 24 hours,

Alloy ingredients for steel are supplied exclusively from the USSR; furthermpre,,
there are large stocks of ingots of old steel estimated at 200,.000 tons. Besides
this, there is a collection 'of scrap iron for making steel; this is done in the
Martin furnaces. These stocks are believed probably to be sufficient for about
18 months.
4. About 120 tons of gray castings are brought from the V.M. Molotov Iron Works
in Trinec each day; these castings are processed immediately.
5i 40 tons of alloy ingredients arrive daily from the USSR; if ingredients run
short,.ingots of special steel are used.
Foundations for a new rolling mill 'mere armor plate will be produced have
been laid, and.the buildings should be'finished and equipped during 1952?
This rolling mill will be at the same location.

There were 20,000 employees, including long-period brigade workers, as of
1 October 1951? About 50 employees are added each month. 20% of the employees
are women and 3,000 are office workers,
Pay is on the basis of piecework throughout. Normal earnings are 3,500 to
4,000 Kcs8 per month. In the foundries, the rolling mills and elsewhere
conditions are unhealthy, the monthly earnings are 8,000 Kea. Office workers
receive 4,000 to x,000 Kcs. hion;thly.
10, About 90% of the employees are dissatisfied, and they sabotage production by
low output. The rise in pries of daily necessities and the constant pressure
to produce more for the same wages increase dissatisfaction.

party members. The personnel carry Mauser military rifles, Twice a week
there is a training period for the entire unit,. and the unit fires on the
range with live ammunition once a week.
12. About four officers in civilian clothes are attached to the plant. About
One a month the plant is inspected by Soviet officers.
