RD PLACE ACQUIRE REFERENCES 25X1A 25X1X 1. In October, nearly all work on the airfield at Nowy Dwor (Tiegenhof - Q55/!71) was stopped as a result of a shortage of workers. A. new type of porous plate was used in the construction of the runways on the airfield; this plate permits the grass to sprout through the perforations, so the runways will eventually resemble the rest of the field. Source states that such porous plates were also used at Radom, when it was enlarged and modernized. 2. Because of the long period of rain in November, the Nowy Dwor Airfield was partly flooded and the ground work was again interrupted. It was reported that part of the completed drainage canals were destroyed. Work other than the ground work has not yet started. 3. In November the Polish newspapers urged participation in the youth courses organized by the Aviation League (Liga Lotnicza). These courses cover three different types of preparatory military training, namely., a. b. C. Training as glider pilots or pilots of powered aircraft. Training as assistant flight mechanics. Training as paratroopers. Applicants piupt be able to show a,. certificate equivalent to about high school edu- cation, together with a testimonial of good character from UP (Union of Polish Youth), a Party organization, or labor union. Age limits are: for pilots, 17-21 years; for mechanics, 16-21; for paratroopers, 16-26. The theoretical training .will take place during the autumn and winter.
