The searchlights remained beamed on the German ve69ol until it had cleared the peninsula. 2. There were large Soviet troop contingents in Nlaipedi. Large troop emplacements (sid were being built in Nimmeretatt. Large depots of tools and, materials were located on the lurisohe Nehru,ng and were off-limits and completely sealed off. 3. Several of the ?0 fish cutters based in Slaipeda were brought there by the Soviets from among the vessels they had received as reparations. The life of the fishermen there is made difficult by the colossal amount of fish they are supposed to lelivert 35 tons of fish plus 10% of their monthly earnings for loans!(Uic)e 4. The railway connections from Slaipeda are very poor= there is only one connection daily between Nlaipeda and faunas. 5. There is a large police station in 9laiieda?that handles the control of papers connectid with sea traffic. 6. The building and fortification of the harbor at Nolobrsog has progressed considerably recently. The work is pushed forward through the use of a group of 700 forced laborers. The harbors in Zolobrseg and Stolpmuends are being ti. dredged and brought to their former depth. The harbors will be protected by three lines of fortifications, line and wire barriers protected by concrete gun and bunker emplacements, 0ontrol of ships in Nolobreeg and Stolpmuende, especially the latter, is very strict: The arms installations in Stolpmuende are still out of order. Baal is unloaded by hand.
