In mid-October 1952, the Soviet fuel depot at achlelfe was onera.ted by
about 100 soldiers who wore block--bordered red epaulets. A major and
Ca,)tsin Koften (fnl) were apparently in coTdtlt r d of the unit. The depot
was guarded by sentries on four observ..tion towers and -?etrols with dogs01.
Resi-ients stated that the i-r;stallation had been demolished by the Soviet.;
in 1945 and 194?6k Several workers who were working on the reconstruction
of the instal.latioy- the new depot consisted of about 100
contni-,er?s which wer ter. ed in groups of three about 1.80 meters in the
ground. In the summer of 19529 39 addition l conta.iners which were larger
than those of the regular railroad tank crn.rs;d were shipped to the depot
and redispatched toward .aoremberg by roil so--!e time later.K The :.=;:satl1_a-
tion was seoarc.ted from the former Gerr,arx depot by a board and wire fend,,
