On 22 December 19552 a group of Kachins from the Cha Fan hill fortress area 1 revolted against the local Chinese Communist administration. The Chinese. Communists brought troops in to suppress the revolt and a bitter skirmish ensued. 2. Because of heavy casualties, both sides called up reinforcements. The Chinese Communists casualties were estimated at over 300. The Kachins were reinforced by Kachins from the Mangshih (N 24-27, .E 98-35) area. After a three-day pitched battle, the Kachins retreated into the jungles to continue the fight.2 25X1 1. Probably the Chefang (N 24m15s E 98-18) area.
