However, the majority of the people are so poorly, informed that they cannot tell the difference between Islam and Communism. Agit-Prop Imun These men were taken to Gunung Pant jar and it is. rumored that they were beheaded. January 1953 7* There are 900 men concentrated at the foot of Mt. $ lak 2 km SW of Bogor. In this group are Indians., Ambonese and some Dutch. Cpta W. Smits is reported to be among the group. In addition to standard infantry equipment these men have six 3 inch field pieces and ten 3 inch trench mortars, 8. 'ortifidations at the foot of Mt. Sanggabuana have been consolidated to such an extent that when the Army 315 Infantry Battalion under Capt. Machfud attacked them,: he was driven off, The TII used cartridges stamped with the date 1953. On 15 January the TII 1. Battalion led by Had j i Engkar .and Had ji' Baker marched down from Gunung Pantjaar and split into two columns at Tadjur. One column proceeded in the direction of the sub-district of Tjiteureup which it attacked and burned, killing three persons.
