The Naval Base at Varna is Located' on a jetty in the southwest part of the harbor.
' e jetty is approlmately 900 meters 'long and 700 meters widei and" is situated
betwev the canal which i z ks Varna Lake with the Black Sea and the harbor. The
depth c f the water along the jetty is 10 to 12 meters. A breakwater 800-900 meters
?cg aad. 30 meters wide is located at the end of the jetty across the mouth of the
harbor.

w'j.r,,,k constru ,tjona. (See Appendix A.9 pages 8, 99 109 and 11 for a sketch of the
Natal Base installations.)
'Naval Base Headquarters
The headquarters or administration building is approximately 30 meters long, 50
meters ides and 20 meters highs It is a 3-story building containing approxi-
mately 100 rooms. No laborers are. allowed inside. Only officers' including 10
female officers,, and other authorized Naval personnel are allowed to enter.

(inn the center of the building) on, the third floor. The Ccmnnanding Officer of
the Bulgarian Naval. Farces at VarnaA Admiral Ormanov, and one other officer,
Vulkano,ir (fxnu9 rank and duties ur mown) a share this office.
App2?zu1intelLy 30 Soviet officerss including an admiral and four or five captains,
have offices on the third floor of the Naval Base Headquarters. One of the
officers is Captain Sergei Aloshin. All of the officers are trained in mariitia
