(FOR KEY SEE REVERSE) 1, TOS (Tovarny obrabecich stroju), national enterprise for the production of machine tools, has an administrative headquarters in Rakovnik (N51/128), to which the following plants are subordinated, a. OFFICIALS ONLY The total number of employees is 3.,0009 the proportion of clerical employees to workmen being 1 to 2.2. 5. The foundry employs 500 persons. It produces grsy'alloys and yellow metals. The monthly production plan amounts to 2500 'O00-Kos,, and the plan is being fulfilled. The entire putput of this department isshipped to the various TOS plants under the Rakovnik managements 6. The mechanical workshop employs 2.500 xoersonss It assembles prototypes of various hydraulic presses. this department is lagging far below the norms. 25X1 25X1 The TOS Plant in Rostokk 7. This plant employs 800 persona and has modern equipment. It produces Bakelite presses, Mark IB , a vertical press, A pump is'attached to each pressp and these pumps are also produced at the plant. Production norms are being fulfilled; yearly output of the bakelite presses is as follows. IB 30 (1.epp for 30 tons pressure) 30 presses LB 54 30 presses LB 60 30 presses, IB 100 30 presses, LB 150 10 presses LB 250 10 presses LB 500 5 presses The TOS Plant in Lubenec 8. The Lubenec plant employs about 800 personso It produces Trolite presses. A pump is attached to each. press. These are produced-by the Sigma Pump Works at Olomouc. Annual production of these presses, known as LTR presses,3 is. as follows. LTR 12 45 (i.e., shutter or out-off power, 12 tons-; 60 presses pressing powers, 4.5 tons) LTR 47 14 LTR 80 29 The TOS Plant at Prague-Holesovice 25 presses 15 presses 9. The Holesovice plant belonged to Eng. Josef Polak before World War TI. During the war it was called the Proma Works and was owned by Eng. Brezina (fnu). It is located in Prague VII, (Holesovice) at Delnicka 639 opposite the Tesla plant. Access is through a gate in the front building on Delnicka Street. This is a three-story building which contains the administrative offices. A corridor leads from this building into the first of the machine shops., which is a building of about the same size. About 200 persons are employed at this plant. 10. The Holesovice plant produces presses for metal manufacture. They were formerly known as Polak presses. Practically the entire output is for exports, 80% of production going to the USSR. Czechoslovakia has little need for these presses at present, and during 1952 only one of them went to a domestic plant. Replacement needs in this line have been taken care of through reparations shipments 25X1 11, When a machine is ready, one or two Russians visit the plant and make a very superficial inspection of it. They are considered utterly unqualified to inspect the machines by the staff. After being inspectede the machines are packed,, sealed and shipped to Chops on the Czech-USSR borderq 1, 2, Comment. "IB" stand for Lis bakelit, Comment. The name Trolite is presumably a proprietary brand of some synthetic resin like Bakelite..
