Luring the night of 31 January to 1 February, a column of about 200 trucks loaded with engineer equi.pmen was observed moving from Dresden towards. 25X1 Meissen. On 4 'pbruary, a motorized unit with tanks and mortars proceeded from Dresden towards Meissen, 2. O:. 13 February, two trains were each loaded at the Weimar railroad station with 6 x 37 mm AA guns, 6 x 85 mm AA.guns,. 30 trucks and 500 soldiers of the 13th AAA Division from the Flak: :aserne. On i6 February, four JS tr:s, four SP guns, motor vehicles and signal equipment of the 21s1- Cuai?ds Mechanized Division were loaded at the Donndorf railroad station. 25X1 i V 12 and 13 February, heavy traffic of motorized units was observed proceeding from the Cottb. airfield to: the Wow ,i,rfieid. About 5,000 men were observed ii. wing toward the west from Welzow airfield. The bulk of the units stationed at the Alvensleben Kaserne in Cottbus 1 't towards the Autobahn. 5. on 14 February, nu ro s. railroad cars of various types were seen at the Herzberg, Grieben, Felten, Radensleben and Neuruppin railroad stations. On 15 February, a large number of flatcars was observed at Neuruppin. 980 cars were to be dispatched to the Neuruppin ra road 6. T On 15 February, eight M-13 rocket launchers and.14- trucks from the Friedrich Franz''aserne were loaded at the Neuruppin railroad station. On 16 February, the same shipment was observed at the Paulinenaue railroad station. 7. Loading operations observed at the Neuruppin railroad station included: 15 February: three trains with 220 trucks, 4 x 57 mm AT guns, 4 x 76.2 mm guns, 4 x 122 mm howitzers, and 6 boxcars with military personnel. Most of the vehicle numbers observed belonged to the 9th Guards Tank Division. On 15 February, three trains loaded with 34 T-34 tanks, 12 x 76.2 mm guns, and including about 25 boxcars with military personnel, passed through Neuruppin, coming from the direction of Wittstock and proceeding toward Altruppin. 94 On 2 February, two JS tanks, 6 T-34 -tanks and an unspecified number of motor vehicles of the 21st Guards Mechanized Division from the Luftnachrichten Kaserne in Halle were loaded at the Halle.freight station and left toward Erfurt. The shipment returned on 16 February. 10. On 13 February, about 30 x 122 mm howitzers, personnel and motor vehicles of the 21st Guards Mechanized Division were loaded at the Halle-freight station. 11., Prior to 10 February, the Kindel troop training ground was occupied by a guard detail of about 200 men, The hutments were boarded up. Comment: The information contained in this report indicates that the following winter exercises were conducted: a. An exercise of units of the 3rd-Shock Army southeast of Schwerin which started on 11 February and probably extended to 15 February. This group was possibly reinforced by units of the IV Artillery Corps. b. An exercise of troops of the 9th Guards Tank Division in'?the Wittstock area between. 12 and 14 February. The division, returned to its military posts via the Neuruppin area. Possibly, other units of the 2nd Guards Mechanized iV?ry may have :held small exercises in, the Neustrelitz area. c. Exercises of the 10th Guards Tank Division and units from Brandenburg, reinforced by artillery units of the 4th Guards Mechanized Army from Bernau and elements of the IV Artillery Corps, in the Doeberitz- Satzkorn area after ].6 February. a.. Exercises of units of the 8th Guards Army, reinforced by the 65th Mortar Brigade from Rathenow, in the Grimm, area after 16 February.
