Most Latvian conscripts were sent to Riffa.where some were assiened to the Latvian Guard Infant Corps, was no longer mentioned in the press, and its, former commander, Lieutenant General Brantskalns (fnu), had not been mentioned in the press for several years. There usually -were" two to four' submarines each mounting a deck gun, in, the Lepaya (N 56--289 E 21-00) Naval Harbor, 2. 14 late April 1952 fifteen heavy, antiaircraft guns were set up on the pier between'the Free Harbor ind the Winter Harbor in Lepaya. These guns were covered with canvas. About the"same time three .of-four anti- aircraft guns were placed east of Mezapricks.1 These guns could be seen from the road. Coast artillery was visible in the Skede (N 56-38, E 21-42) area of the Latvian coast north of the Lepiyi Naval. Harbor between Lake Tosmare (N 56-31i.9 E 21-03) and the Baltic Sea. guns shooting 25X1 at sea targets in this area. Tank troops were stationed in Cirava (N 56-x.39 E 21-28) in 1949. Many troops were stationed in Paplaka (N 56-27.,-E 21-27). Larger (sic) units of infantry were stationed in Priekale (N 56-2.7, E 21-34). Most of these troops appeared to be Uzbeks, Tarkmen, or other Mongolians. These Mongol.iai troops had won a wide reputation because of their exploits with women. 7. A civilian radio station was located between the Ramie ra lro l station and Lake Lepaya. One of the high ranking naval, officers in Lepaya was named Gorkuscha (fnu His rank is not known- Comment.
