1, General

January 1953. The German workers engaged on the site have only received 6.0`i
of their wages and have become very discontented,, progress having noticeably
slackened,
2, Barrack Accoim odation
Of the four barrack blocks under construction' one has now been completed and
the I-emaining three have been built up as far as the first floor.
3, Heavy Building Egui:iment
During, the period of report, two bulldozers and a mechanical scrubber (sic)
have arrived on the site.
this total is to be eventually
increased up to 3000. if this total cannot
be achieved from volunteers,, than local conscription will be restored to.
Due to general dissatisfaction over wages, numerous workmen have already left
and commenced work at Peenemunde.
Personnel
The total number of German workers employed on the site has now
between 700 and 800. all members of the Bau Union, Brandenburg.
5, Projress Of Work
(a) On the building site west of the Vietmannsdorf/Gross D61 1n road., a
series'of poles surmounted by electric arc lamps have been erected. To date

no night work has been'carried out, but it is understood that this will be
the case in the future.
(b) A built-up concrete level crossing has been constructed on the road
crossing over the railway siding adjoining the southern side of the airfield.
(c) Clearing and levelling has continued on.the eastern portion of the
project and only 100 meters now remain to be levelled before'the boundary
is reached. Considerable excavation is continuing in the most recently cleared
200 meters of ground and concrete posts of various lengths are being sunk
into the ground. the excavations 25X1
were intended for the. fuel installation that was-to -bethere.
6. Transport_
The following vehicle was observed entering the, site:
Six wheeled Studebaker type trucks. No details of the
driver's uniform was obtainable.
