1. The proposed merger between CHANG T'aek-Bang's Silla Hoe Group and the Outside
Liberal Party had failed by early February.'
2. The primary reason for failure of the merger was YI Pomwsok's threat to quit
the Outside Liberal Party if CHANG were admitted to the party. The other
reason was disagreement over the nomination of heads for the National Assembly
sun-committees.
3. When the extent of YI's opposition to CHANG became known to the Si11aHoe group,
the latter group joined with the Democratic National Party to defeat the Outside
Liberal Party in the National Assembly election of sub-committees.
1. Comment. According t this merger was part of the
u si e i eral Party's plan to win the K Assembly confirmation of PAEK
Tu-chin as prime minister.
