The Rumanian ArD food depot in Arad is located at Aarel Vlaicu (formerly Calea
Lipovvei) Street 138,, in a building that was a warehouse of Pollak and Company.
The building is 40 x 12 meters and constructed of concrete and brick with roof
tiles over wooden rafters. There is a cellar divided into four rooms, 10 by 10
by 3 meters. The ground floor has four rooms 10 by 10 by 5 meters. On the
north and south sides are rolling doors, each 3 meters wide; the east and west
sides each have four rolling doors, 2 meters wide. The west side is provided
with a railroad spur line, while the east side has a platform for trucks. There
are two electricaly operated trucks with a capacity of 250 kilograms. The
separate rooms are connected with rolling doors 2 meters wide. The upper floor
also has four rooms; 1.0 by 10 by 3 meters.
About 30 meters east of the main building is a one-story building, 10 by 10
meters which is occupied by the officers and guards. There is an inter-
communication system between the buildings. The guard consists of six men, one
of whom is on duty during the day and two at night. The officer in charge of
the depot is Lt. Colonel Simeon Horja, who has Major Eftimiu Makowskii as Soviet
adviser.
Issues of food are made on 1, 10 and 20 of each month.. The following. food
depots are serviced from this depot- Arad garrison; Pecica, Siria, Simandul,
Gurahont, Ineu, Lipova, Sannicolaul-Mare and Lovrin.
In the month of December the following daily rations were issued.
